Intermediate or Senior Hydrologist, Wellington

We are currently recruiting an Intermediate or Senior Hydrologist to be based in our Wellington office. To be successful, you will have broad experience in hydrology/hydraulic modelling and providing related technical support, which can vary from rainfall runoff and flood modelling to GIS. You’ll be involved with projects undertaken by our Planning and Environmental Services Hydrology team, as well as engaging in business development, assisting with proposals and other initiatives as required. There are also opportunities to work offshore supporting our international business.
We are looking for a specialist with a bachelor degree in Science, Environmental Studies or similar plus a Masters degree in hydrology, water management, flood risk or similar. You’ll have at least 5 years professional experience in hydrology and hydraulics, preferably in a consulting environment. Experience in water resource development projects in a New Zealand context is preferred together with strong GIS skills. You’ll be highly competent in rainfall runoff modelling, , using hydrological database software such as TIDEA, Hilltop, Hydstra or similar and hydraulic modelling software such as Mike 11, Mike 21, Infoworks RS or similar. Working in a consultancy, you’ll also need excellent written and oral communication skills.
